THE HISTORY OF LAMN
In 2011, Shane Burcaw, a young man from Bethlehem, PA, started a blog to share his life experiences with a condition that causes his muscles to progressively weaken. What began as a personal narrative quickly grew into a widely-followed blog with over HALF A MILLION followers and counting.
Recognizing the power of humor in improving lives, Shane, along with his cousin Sarah (pictured above), launched Laughing At My Nightmare. Their goal was to spread laughter and provide support to others living with similar conditions.
Since then, Shane has also co-founded the popular YouTube channel Squirmy and Grubs with his wife, Hannah (Aylward) Burcaw (pictured below). Their channel explores their life together, showcasing how Shane’s disability influences their relationship in unexpected and heartwarming ways.
Sarah continues to manage LAMN’s initiatives, through which the organization has distributed over $1,000,000 in adaptive equipment and awarded more than $70,000 in college scholarships to students with muscular dystrophy.
